By-Law Enforcement
Welcome to the By-Law Department
By-law Enforcement team helps maintain a safe, healthy, and enjoyable community by enforcing the by-laws and policies established by Council. The Township of Cramahe values open communication and strives to address all public comments—positive or negative—in a fair, respectful, and timely manner.
By-law enforcement in Cramahe is primarily complaint-driven. The Municipal By-law Enforcement Officer responds to written complaints submitted through our By-law Complaint Form and works to resolve issues, often achieving voluntary compliance. In cases where compliance is not immediate, formal legal processes may be required, which can take time.
The By-law Officer enforces municipal by-laws on matters such as property standards, noise, parking, and dogs. The Officer is also responsible for issuing licenses, including refreshment vehicle, hawkers and peddlers, backyard chicken coops, and dog/kennel licenses.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Responding to public complaints about property standards and by-law violations
-
Investigating and prosecuting violations
-
Issuing parking tickets and provincial offences notices
-
Preparing documentation for court hearings
